The EPD's patch/logo was designed to represent many things, some of which are fairly obvious and others that are very

subtle.

The rising sun is symbolic of the dawning of a new era for the village. The future is bright and the past, while never forgotten, is left behind for the sake of progress. The light of the sun brings with it hope and justice.

The rays of the sun are displayed in the colors of the flag of our great Nation and are meant to serve as a patriotic symbol. These rays of light illuminate the EPD motto "PROTECTION THROUGH SERVICE" and support the "Endeavor Police" banner. It is important to remember that many dedicated patriots died to allow us to enjoy our everyday lives and freedoms and, without such great sacrifice, we would not be a free country.

The shield, while obviously paying tribute to another of the United States' great symbols, also represents the purity, hardiness, valor, vigilance, and perseverance that American Law Enforcement Officers strive to achieve in the performance of their everyday duties. The shield in the EPD patch is born on the breast of the American Eagle and is strongly supported by the firm grip of its claws. This symbolizes the important fact that without a strong Nation and the support of its citizens, justice will fail and chaos will reign.

The American Eagle is looking to its right. In traditional depictions of the American Eagle, it is holding an olive branch in its right claw and arrows in its left symbolizing the power of peace and war. In our patch, the Eagle looks to its right to show our desire to create and maintain peace and order within the community we serve.

The Eye of Providence is located inside of the sun and is looking up at the rest of the patch. The eye is used in the Great Seal of the United States and is often the subject of wide-ranging theories. The designers of the Great Seal intended it to represent God's approval of the American cause. The EPD intends it to represent our dedication to be forever watchful, vigilant, and protective.

The background of the patch is dark and represents the night. The darkness of night is commonly symbolic of the criminal element or a negative past. Our patch shows the darkness filled with the light of justice and hope. One can imagine that the darkness would be eventually eliminated by the illumination of the rising sun. This contrast of night and day represents the ongoing and never ending struggle between justice and chaos. The EPD is dedicated to fighting for justice.
